The overall allowable leak rate for this coil is 5 x 10 -6 scc/sec. Other topics that will be discussed are helium flow and pressure drop testing which is used to detect any restrictions in the flow paths, and the LCP final acceptance test which is the final leak test performed on the coil prior to its being sent for testing. The emphasis will be on the degree of test sensitivity achieved under shop conditions, and what equipment, techniques and tooling are required to achieve this sensitivity (5.9 x 10 -8 scc/sec). This paper will discuss the various types of helium leak testing done on the LCP coil as it enters different stages of manufacture.
